Good Samaritan

Legislation Support:

Dozens of watershed groups in Colorado are impacted by draining mines. Good Samaritan legislation would limit liability for citizen groups that wish to mitigate the water quality affects of draining mines in their communities. Senator Udall is introducing Good Samaritan legislation this session and the Colorado Watershed Assembly has drafted a letter of support. We would like to document watershed group support for this bill. Please review the letter and let us know if your group would like to sign on to this. Thank you!

The video, produced by Tom Schillaci at Biscuit Boy Productions, is now on Youtube. The following is a brief synopsis:
"Because of the high liability that third-party watershed groups face, many remediation projects are not getting done. Dissolved metals are still entering our streambeds, and work is not being completed at many draining, inactive hardrock mines. As a result, some aquatic habitats still do not support much life. This video introduces the issue of draining mines and the legislation needed to reduce the liability of Good Samaritans."
