Call for Papers: AWRA Specialty Conference
American Water Resources Association (AWRA) is hosting a Specialty Conference titled “Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Water Resources II: Research, Engineering, and Community Action” in Denver, Colorado, on June 25-27, 2012. The focus of this conference will be on the detection, fate, and effects of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) including: nonprescription and prescription drugs, hormones, disinfectants, pesticides, pathogens, flame retardants and other industrial chemicals, some household-cleaning products and fragrances, and nanomaterials. CWCB Proposed Instream Flow Appropriations
At its January 23-24, 2012 regular meeting, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) declared its intent to appropriate instream flow water rights for the 4 streams listed on the attached instream flow appropriation list. Copies of the Instream Flow Recommendation Summary Reports and Appendices submitted into the Official CWCB Record are available for review during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) at the CWCB's office, located at 1313 Sherman Street, Room 721, Denver, Colorado, 80203. ater 2012 is being spearheaded by CFWE with the help of over 200 volunteers to bring awareness and educational water activities to Colorado through a yearlong celebratory campaign. Committees are working on school and university activities, a virtual book club, traveling informational displays, web-based tools, watershed activities, and a traveling speaker’s series. The High Altitude Revegetation Workshop to be held March 6-8, 2012, at the Lory Student Center on the Colorado State University Campus, Fort Collins, Colorado. For over thirty-five years, interested people from the environmental restoration industry, academia and regulatory agencies have gathered every other year to learn about new techniques, products and methods for solving revegetation and restoration problems. June 10-15: River Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp
Colorado Trout Unlimited is now accepting applications for the seventh annual River Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp, June 10-15, 2012 at the High Lonesome Ranch near DeBeque, CO. Applications must be received by April 15, 2012. The camp is designed to educate 14 to 18 year old students on the importance of coldwater conservation and provide hands-on fly fishing instruction. Approximately 20 students are selected each year, based on their qualifications and a written essay on why they would like to attend the camp. Find more information here.

The purpose of the Local Sustainability Matching Fund is twofold: to catalyze partnerships between local government sustainability directors and local, place-based foundations, including community foundations, and to advance important community-based sustainability initiatives. The Fund will provide partnership investments between $25,000 and $75,000, with a 1:1 match required by one or more local foundation. The Network anticipates that the Fund will support up to ten partnership projects in the first year in two rounds in the spring and fall of 2012. 2012 NAWCA Small Grants Program
Application Deadline: October 25, 2012
The Small Grants Program is a competitive, matching grants program that supports public-private partnerships carrying out projects in the United States that further the goals of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (Act). These projects must involve long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated uplands habitats for the benefit of all wetlands-associated migratory birds. Scholarship Opportunity for IBCC and Basin Roundtable Members
The Public Education, Participation and Outreach (PEPO) workgroup of the IBCC has made funding available to all Basin Roundtables to offset costs of water education opportunities. The goal of this funding is to provide basin roundtable members with financial assistance to learn about water issues in other basins and statewide, thus transferring information between basins. May 14-18: 2012 Ranger Excellence School
The ranger training will be once again hosted at the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Center. Training topics for this year will include medical emergency management, character and ethics, self defense, wilderness first aid/wilderness first responder re-certification, wildlife crimes identification and many more. As we progress with planning, the training schedule and session descriptions will be added to the Ranger Training page off of the Colorado Open Space Alliance website.
