Jeff Crane

Jeff is a hydrologist specializing in stream restoration, irrigation diversion and habitat enhancement projects with a major emphasis in water resource engineering and hydrology. As Executive Director Jeff’s primary responsibility is to improve public awareness of watershed issues by working to ensure that CWA serves as a statewide voice for watershed groups, provides an ongoing mechanism to funnel additional resources, and amplifies local public outreach and educational efforts. He enjoys river rafting, skiing, bicycling and hiking with his family. Favorite quote: “If it were merely challenging that would be OK. But I wake up each morning with a desire to save the world and a desire to savor the world; and that makes my day hard to plan.”

Diane Hackl
Finance and Administrative Director

Diane manages all the accounting, grant administration, human resources and organizational management. She is the glue of the organization. She has a BS in Environmental Conservation from the University of Colorado and has taught outdoor education with Outward Bound, Earlham College and Sterling College. Her favorite quote is from Dr. Seuss: “If you never have you should, these things are fun and fun is good.”

Erika Shioya

Erika has a BS in Genetics and Plant Biology from the University of California at Berkeley. Before starting with CWA, she worked as a lab assistant in a hydroponic R&D lab and as an environmental educator, teaching young children about the importance of water conservation. She loves cooking, playing with plants and spending time in the outdoors.

Michaela Taylor
Program Manager

Michaela graduated from Florida State University and earned a degree in English and a minor in Biology. She has been working with River Watch since 2002 and became Program Manager in 2006. She has her own line of organic dog treats and enjoys writing screenplays in her spare time. Michaela also has a fetish for top-of-the-line purses.

Barb Horn
Water Resource Specialist

Barb has been a water resource specialist of some sort with the Colorado Division of Wildlife since 1985. She has a BS in Environmental Conservation, Environmental Economics, MBS in Stream Ecology all from University of Colorado. She peaked at five years old and has been trying to get back to that level ever since.

Matt McIntyre
Water Quality Analyst

Matt graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Hydrology. He has been the River Watch Analyst since 1994. Matt has a passion for Enchiladas Del Mar, trout fishing the Miracle Mile, and Rockies baseball. He is the proud owner of a golden retriever named Lily.

Julia Campus
OSM/VISTA - Outreach Coordinator

Julia is a recent graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, with a BS in Environmental Science and a BA in Chemistry. She is serving as an OSM/VISTA for a year with River Watch. She enjoys hiking, reading, drinking tea, and being outside.

David Thompson
OSM/VISTA - Outreach Coordinator
David Thompson comes to River Watch from Thurmond, West Virginia, where he served as a VISTA for the New River Gorge National River as a water quality specialist. he worked on many projects in the area including working on the State of the New River Report and participating in the Park's Long Term Monitoring Program of the New River and its tributaries. Before starting his service in West Virginia, David earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. He is a native of Billings, Montana.

Michael Blazewicz
Program Director
Michael migrated to Colorado by way of Washington via Vermont. He utilizes an interdisciplinary background to address watershed restoration through research, education, and collaborative design/build projects. He has a B.S. from the University of Vermont and recently completed a Masters degree at the Yale School of Forestry. In his spare time he enjoys backcountry skiing, mountain biking, climbing, mountaineering, fly fishing, surfing (which by the way is hard to do in Colorado), growing food and long walks on the beach.
