The Development Director leads and manages Western Resource Advocates’s fundraising activities to secure significant financial resources from individuals, foundations, and corporations. The Director creates the vision for the Development department, identifies key strategies, develops and undertakes a plan of action, and evaluates and adjusts as needed to deliver targeted outcomes. Development functions include annual giving, principal and major gifts, planned giving, prospecting, and foundation relations and grants. The Director works closely with the Executive Vice President and the President on principal gifts to secure increased philanthropic revenue to support strategic initiatives in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan. The Development Director is accountable for an annual fundraising goal in the range of $15 million. The Director contributes to strategic and annual plans, effectively allocates resources, drives outcome-oriented collaboration and the evolution of the development team and its functions. To do this, the Director leads, manages, and works closely with a growing team of eight development staff, four of which are direct reports, to set and meet specific objectives and financial goals. The Development Director is also responsible for a portfolio of prospects and donors. The size of the portfolio, and associated individual fundraising goals, is determined with consideration of the leadership and supervisory responsibilities of this position. Learn more or apply HERE

Colorado Mesa University is seeking to hire Executive Director, CMU Ruth Powell Hutchins Water Center. CMU seeks a dynamic leader to lead in the reinvigoration of the Water Center through systematic organizational development, strategic planning, and impactful programming. In January 2025, the Colorado River District (“CRD”) and CMU committed $600,000 through a three-year grant to support capacity building, staff, and strategic planning. This funding is an opportunity for an innovative, dynamic, and resourceful Executive Director to reestablish the Water Center to serve as a driving force for producing, sharing, and informing constituents of the Upper Colorado River Basin and Western Colorado water research and interests. Colorado Water Trust is seeking to hire a Water Transaction Specialist. The Water Transactions Specialist will evaluate, develop, implement, and steward flow restoration projects throughout Colorado using collaborative, voluntary, and market-based approaches. They will work in a team environment under the direction of the Programs Director, with a self-starting and entrepreneurial ethos. The ideal candidate will share our passion for Western water and healthy rivers, be adept at innovative thinking to advance Colorado Water Trust’s goals, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in addition to technical skills. The right person for this role will be comfortable communicating complex technical information to a variety of audiences, and be persistent despite occasionally skeptical audiences and challenging, long-term projects. The Animas Watershed Partnership (AWP) is hiring a coordinator to manage the planning process and other AWP projects. Applications are due May 15. The Coordinator serves as the public face of the partnership. The role of the coordinator is to work collaboratively with partner organizations, local governments, citizens and landowners to develop an integrated watershed management plan (IWMP). This includes the identification and implementation of strategies, policies and projects that support environmental, social and economic interests. Such strategies, policies and projects include conducting community engagement and outreach to increase citizen awareness and action for watershed health, helping to keep state and local leaders updated and aware of river health issues, and other creative ways of supporting and advancing watershed stewardship.
