SEPTEMBER 16th & 17th, 2020: Virtual Symposium on Conservation Impact | Salazar Center | Virtual. The Center’s 2020 International Symposium on Conservation Impact will highlight best-in-class examples in North American cities of enhancing natural systems to improve community health and support climate resilience. The symposium will feature a broad group of policy leaders, practitioners, and researchers who work in and around cities. They will explore efforts in the US, Canada, and Mexico to build natural solutions to support climate adaptation and resilience, and improve habitat and human connectivity in and through cities and metropolitan areas. SEPTEMBER 17th, 2020: Wild & Scenic Film Festival | Middle Colorado Watershed Council | 6:30 p.m. The evening's exciting lineup shares 11 inspiring films from the Wild and Scenic Film Festival, plus a special guest film from the Colorado River District, one of the festival sponsors. Anyone anywhere can join the digital film fest. SEPTEMBER 17th, 2020: Help Build Bird Boxes at GJWA | RiversEdge West | Grand Junction, CO | 8:00-11:00 am MDT. Help RiversEdge West and the Bureau of Reclamation build bird boxes at the Grand Junction Wildlife Area! The bird boxes will provide a safe place for birds to build their nests so they are protected from the elements and predators. Volunteers should bring their own mask, work gloves, water, sunscreen, and a cordless drill if you have one (otherwise we will have some to share). This event is limited to the first 10 people and an RSVP is required.

SEPTEMBER 17th & 18th, 2020: Colorado's 2020 Advancing Environmental Education Conference | Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) | Virtual. Colorado’s Advancing Environmental Education Conference is annually hosted by the CAEE, a statewide leader in environmental education since 1989. CAEE facilitates communication, coordination, resource sharing and professional development to advance environmental education among over 900 members across the state among various sectors. Miners and mining communities are no strangers to challenge and changing conditions. The year of 2020 has brought with it a series of challenges and opportunities. SEPTEMBER 24th, 2020: River Park Cleanup | Grand Junction, CO | 8:00-10:00 a.m. You will be pulling weeds and using loppers to cut invasive plants like tamarisk, kochia, cocklebur, and perennial pepperweed. Removing these weeds and woody invasive plants is a critical step in ensuring that native plants have a chance to establish, not to mention keeping the area clear for folks to access the River Park. A light snack (e.g. muffins, bagels, coffee) and tools will be provided! Feel free to bring your own tools (e.g. loppers, spade) if you have them. Click HERE for registration.

SEPTEMBER 26th & 27th, 2020 | Nat’l Public Lands Day Weekend at Shelf Road | RMFI. Join RMFI to celebrate National Public Lands Day at Shelf Road Recreation Area! RMFI is partnering with the Bureau of Land Management, Royal Gorge Field Office to improve belay platforms at the Mammoth area, Ejection Wall, and Gym Arete, as well as trail tread maintenance at the Gym and New Gym crags. This project will involve plenty of rock moving, a bit of technical rock feature construction, and a lot of fun, strenuous, and rewarding work!
